… Soundtrack Development Update!
We’re moving quickly from securing brand partnerships to the next important phase: locking in our musical direction for Space Samurai: Oasis.
THE POWER OF ORIGINAL MUSIC:
Sometimes rejection leads to something better. In “Rocky III” (1982), Sylvester Stallone was denied permission to use Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust” as the theme song. Instead of settling for second best, Survivor wrote “Eye of the Tiger” specifically for the movie, with Stallone providing input on the lyrics and incorporating actual dialogue from the movie.
The result? A song that became more iconic than the original choice and synonymous with the entire Rocky franchise.
CURRENT STATUS:
- We have received plenty of external submissions to fill a 20-track album
- Now we can select submissions that already include music videos to compile and release a “special-features” soundtrack as a DVD
- Multiple revenue stream opportunity – both audio soundtrack and visual DVD release
OPPORTUNITY FOR ARTISTS:
If you don’t already have a music video, or even a song/track selected, you may be able to secure a track in the movie and include scenes/shots from the movie in your music video.
This creates a unique cross-promotional opportunity – your music video features actual Space Samurai footage, while your song becomes embedded and part of the movie’s emotional landscape.
TIMELINE:
We need all songs/music tracks signed/funded before we shoot so we can embed them into scenes with actors who may be singing along or rocking out to the track.
PRODUCTION PHASE TRANSITION:
We’ve got a few more roles to audition/cast and a few more brand integrations to secure. Once complete, we quickly move from Pre-Production into Production.
Important note: We will be able to release the soundtrack, as one of the 13 Revenue Streams, even before we start shooting the movie – but we need to secure the music first to embed it in the scenes.
